Son La Hydropower Plant

Son La Hydropower Plant is the largest one in South East Asia, being constructed in It Ong, Muong La, Son La.
The plant has a installed capacity of 2,400 MW, consisting of 6 generator units (each has capacity of 400 MW), with annual average of 9.429 billion kWh and total investment budget: 42.476,9 billion VND.
Son La Hydropower Plant was constructed by Vietnam Contractors Association, in which Vietnam Machinery Industrial and Equipment Corporation was the leading supplier of hydraulic equipment for the item of water intake.
- The factory was started for construction on December 2nd, 2005.
- On December 17th, 2010, generator unit 1 connecting to national grid.
- On April 20th, 2011, generator unit 2 connecting to national grid.
- On August 23rd, 2011, generator unit 3 connecting to national grid.
- On December 19th, 2011, generator unit 4 connecting to national grid.
- On April 28th, 2012, generator unit 5 connecting to national grid.
- Expectedly, generator unit 6 will be put into operation in August, 2012 and the whole project ís completed by the end of 2012.
